Language plays a central role in shaping how political realities are perceived, interpreted, and legitimised.

This session examines how media narratives construct meaning in the context of Palestine and Israel. The discussion focuses on how terminology used in journalism, political discourse, and international reporting influences global perception and political response.

Through case studies and analysis, the session explores how specific terms frame events, distribute legitimacy, and structure public understanding. Words such as “conflict,” “occupation,” “security,” or “terrorism” carry political weight that shapes the boundaries of debate and interpretation.

By examining language as a political battleground, the session invites participants to reflect on how narratives are constructed and how alternative forms of narration can challenge dominant frameworks.
